HELP!

Platonic

by Craig Rondinone

Craig Rondinone is a syndicated columnist who writes weekly columns on fantasy baseball and football for SportsTicker that can be seen on the Internet. He also has a collection of short stories that will be published by Publish America in May 2004.

It sounds like a disease.
Bubonic, chronic, supersonic,
Platonic.

What it means is on one hand
I would be the first one
To give you the sweetest embrace,
While on the other hand
I wouldn't touch you
With a ten foot pole.

What it means is you're the only friend
I can say "I love you" to
And not feel awkward.

What it means is you're one of the only women
I wouldn't think about making love with.
Not because I don't love you
But because I do love you.

Platonic.

What it means is you and I
Can disprove the myth
That boys and girls can't be just friends
Like being friends isn't good enough.

What it means is once I find
The girl of my dreams,
You'll be the first one to raise a red flag
the only one not to be blinded by her charms.

What it means is if I had to make a list
And place my friends in order of importance,
You may not rank number one
But you would be the most special friend
I have.
