Rock-a-bye
baby, in the treetop.
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,
and down will come baby, cradle and all.
Don't
you just love that sweet lullaby?
Tree breaks and baby plummets from sky.
What's that, you're scared, now baby don't weep.
I'll sing you some more to send you to sleep.
Rock-a-bye
baby, sail for Cape Horn.
When the wind blows, the sails will be torn.
When the bow breaks, the ship will go down,
and no one will know where baby did drown.
Rock-a-bye
babe, in middle of road.
Here comes a transport, my what a load.
Baby can't move, the truck will arrive
and leave one more stain on I-95.
Rock-a-bye
baby, in the dark cave.
No one to hear you, no one to save.
Something approaches, terror unseen,
but sounds like its teeth are long, sharp, and mean.
Slumber
now baby, in your dark room.
Tears on your cheeks, of joy I assume.
Goodnight my child, to dreamland you go...
Tomorrow we'll read some Ed Allan Poe.
