I was checking WebTrends the other day -- WebTrends is software that tells us interesting stuff about our website, such as which are the most requested pages, how long surfing sessions last, and that sort of thing.

  I'd been noticing a rather peculiar "trend" in the past few months. Our page entitled "Movie Archive G-K" had been coming up as one of the most well read pages on our site. It puzzled me. At first I thought it might be connected to our review of High Fidelity, since that movie has been in the news lately. But then I noticed the WT report on "Search Engine Keywords." Apparently surfers who are looking for "porn stars" had dug out Clever Magazine and clicked through.

How did that happen? I checked our movie archive and that's when I noticed that Karen Dale had used the term "porn star" in describing a character in the movie The Girl Next Door. The review is not really about porn, as you know, it's just a movie review.

Yahoo lists "porn star" 280,000 web sites, and you gotta know that Clever Magazine will be way down that list. Web surfers looking for porn are really digging deep to find interesting stuff, and I know they are totally disappointed when they eventually find our movie archive page, because the only reference to porn in that article is in describing the girl next door.

So here's a Notice to all porn surfers: Clever Magazine is not a PORN SITE:  Sorry, Dude...
