Reader Responses to the May 2002 issue:
Regarding our Stone Lion Investigations... From: AlbertSubject: Lion of Lucerne
You did a good job in answering the May 2000 question about about the "Lion
of Lucerne," yet, alas, the lion (which represents the slain
Swiss guards) isn't sleeping, it's dying of its wounds, while protecting
the fleur de lis shield of France with its paws.
Thanks, Albert. Our investigations continue and we're always happy to receive more information. |

FYI: A few months back, Time Magazine did an article on stone lions (well, maybe more then a few months, try July 3, of 2000). In it they reported that stone lions are good Feng Shui for the home. As you may or may not know, Feng Shui means wind and water in Chinese, and according to Chinese culture, having an understanding of these hidden energies can enhance our lives. There are ways to manipulate our space, our furniture and even our architecture to create good Feng Shui, which will then bring us prosperity and success. This may sound like some sophisticated version of an wive's tale but millions of folks are buying into notions of FS, with better feelings of being in harmony with the world in general. Can it hurt? I think not. So the next time you see a stone lion for sale that's small enough to fit on your doorstep or entryway, think about it.
